Membership Application - Wye Bible Church

Thank you for your desire to partner in ministry with the local body of Christ represented here at Wye Bible Church. We function as a family of God, seeking to glorify God, and as such, we want to take the time to get to know you, your family, and your relationship with the Lord. We take membership seriously and so we appreciate you taking the time to read and fill out this application to help us know you better.

The basic assumptions of you receiving and submitting this application are:

1.You have attended WBC long enough for us to get to know you and you us.

2. You are a born again believer.

3. You are in good standing with previous churches which you have been a member.

4. You have read and agree with our Statement of Faith.

5. You understand our doctrinal distinctives and agree with them.

6. You will not teach any doctrinal positions that are different than what WBC ascribes to, nor cause divisiveness in areas where you disagree.

7. You are committing to being an active member in WBC who regularly attends church services and supports the ministry with your time and resources.

8. You are willing to adhere to the WBC Safe Environment Policy, as well as be screened if you decide to teach or participate in Children’s Ministries.

9. You understand that we exercise church discipline, and deal with relationships, according to the guidelines which Jesus established in Matthew 18:15-17, with forgiveness and reconciliation as the goal.

10. You submit to the authority of the Word of God, and to the leadership that God has established here at WBC (Hebrews 13:17). We understand that there is a mutual submission and accountability that works both ways, between leadership and congregant, as Christ is the Chief Shepherd and Head of this Body of Christ.

11. You are not involved with any lifestyle sins, such as cohabitation or homosexuality.

12. You understand that we hold to “Sola Scriptura,” Scripture is the sufficient and final Word in all matters (Heb 1:2; 2 Tim 3:16-17).

Doctrinal Distinctives

Marriage/Human Sexuality: We believe that marriage is ordained of God between one naturally born man and one naturally born woman for life. The sexual expression of masculinity and femininity is reserved for the marital relationship. Any form of sexual expression outside of marriage is a violation of God’s design and purpose (Gen. 2:24; Lev. 18:22-23; Lev. 20:13; Mt. 19:3-6; Rom. 1:26-27; I Cor. 6:9-10, 18; Eph. 5:22-33; Heb. 13:4).

Abortion: We believe in the sanctity of human life. We believe that, biblically, human life begins at conception, that abortion is immoral and a destruction of a human being created in God’s image (Job 31:15; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5; Luke 1:44; Proverbs 31:8-9; Galatians 1:15), which would equate to murder and a violation of God’s law (Exodus 20:13).
