Dear Parents and Awana Clubbers,

It’s time to get ready for another great year! We are excited that you are considering having your child attend our Awana Club on Wednesday nights. Our first 2023-24 Awana Club meeting is on Wednesday, September 13, from 6-7:30 p.m. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. (or you can register online at our website). All events will occur at Wye Bible Church (WBC).

Our club is one of the thousands of Awana Clubs in churches worldwide. The International Headquarters is in Streamwood, Illinois. These church-based, community programs are open to all children regardless of faith or home church. Each club meeting consists of three parts: games, achievements and Bible time. The club groups are:

Cubbies:—Three & four year olds

Sparks:—Kindergarten – 2nd graders

T&T:—3rd – 6th graders

Dues:

While the church supplies our facilities and equipment, we ask that each clubber pay dues to help defray the cost of special supplies, treats and handbooks. The dues for the 2023 – 2024 year are:

One child—$35.00

Two children—$50.00

Three or more—$65.00 (cap)

Dues should be paid within thirty days of the start of the club and can be paid by check, cash or online via PayPal. Please speak with the Awana secretary (Laura) if you need other arrangements.

NEW THIS YEAR! Family Dinners:

Once a month (except in December), we will offer Family Dinners. The dinners are for Awana attendees and their families (at least one parent is required to stay) and are free (donations are accepted). Please join us starting at 5:30 p.m. in our Sanctuary. Dinners will end promptly at 6:15 so Awana groups can begin their meetings. While RSVPs are not required, it will help us ensure we have enough food for everyone if you let us know you are coming by emailing Laura at wbc.office@wyebiblechurch.com.

Calendar:

We will meet on select Wednesdays starting September 13. Please see the Awana calendar. We follow the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools Calendar and Inclement Weather Policy. If schools have a half-day, are scheduled to be closed or close early or all day due to weather conditions, there is no Awana that evening. There is one exception: We will meet on January 17, which is a half-day for the high schools only.

Achievements:

Your child will bring home a booklet, the first step in Awana achievement! (Returning members will work on the book they were working on last year, or if they finished their book, they will receive a new one.) Please help your child complete this booklet within the next few weeks. After completing the booklet, your child is eligible to earn more awards. We want to work with you in providing balanced physical, social, mental, and spiritual activities for your child.

Sick Child Policy:

We want to provide a healthy and safe environment for all children. Please be considerate of other children when deciding whether to allow your child(ren) to participate in Awana when they are displaying symptoms of contagious illnesses (including a runny nose). Children observed to be ill will be separated from the other children, and we will contact the parent/guardian to pick up their child(ren). Additionally, children must be fever and vomit-free without medication for 24 hours before returning to any Awana activities.

In closing, if you currently do not have a church home, we invite you to visit our church. Sunday School meets at 9:00 a.m. with classes for all ages. The Worship Service meets at 10:30 a.m. For more information, don’t hesitate to contact the Wye Bible Church office at 410.827.6650. We invite you to come as a visitor and leave as a friend.
